Donetsk republic head hopes for ‘quieter’ times in Gorlovka after liberation of Dzerzhinsk

Denis Pushilin described Gorlovka as a "long-suffering" that Ukrainian forces continue to shell

DONETSK, February 7. /TASS/. Donetsk People's Republic head Denis Pushilin said he hopes for "quieter" times in the town of Gorlovka after the liberation of the town of Dzerzhinsk, known in Ukraine as Toretsk.

"What makes today's day remarkable is that Dzerzhinsk has finally been liberated. From now on no one will be confused whether it is Toretsk or Dzerzhinsk. It is now, as before, the truly Russian city of Dzerzhinsk. And I very much hope that after our boys push the enemy further away from Gorlovka, quieter times will come to Gorlovka," he wrote on Telegram.

Pushilin described Gorlovka as a "long-suffering" that Ukrainian forces continue to shell. He said Ukrainian troops committed a huge number of crimes against the town, which have yet to be dealt with.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of Dzerzhinsk on February 7. The city sits to the north of Gorlovka and used to serve as an important logistics hub for Ukraine on the path to the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Kharkov Region.
