Tula defense firm boosts artillery ammunition output fourfold — top brass

Splav Head Rinat Idrisov reported to the minister that the enterprise was carrying out technical retooling and large-scale construction and reconstruction of production capacities on the minister’s assignment

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. The Tula-based Splav Research and Production Association has boosted the output of artillery shells fourfold and the production of some ammunition sevenfold, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday after Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu’s trip to regional enterprises.

"Army General Sergey Shoigu viewed the factory’s new production workshops launched into operation in 2023, which helped boost the output of shells across the entire range of products fourfold and sevenfold with regard to some ammunition items," the ministry said in a statement.

Splav Head Rinat Idrisov reported to the minister that the enterprise was carrying out technical retooling and large-scale construction and reconstruction of production capacities on the minister’s assignment. Since the beginning of this year alone, the factory has installed over 90 new machine tools and required equipment, the ministry reported.
