NEW YORK, March 6. /TASS/. About 76% of Americans endorsed President Donald Trump's speech before the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress, while 58% of respondents fully agree with his ideas, a survey conducted by the YouGov research service reveals.
7% of US residents disapproved of Trump's speech. 16% of Americans completely disagree with its content.
Trump's opinion on the conflict in Ukraine was supported by 73% of the polled. His ideas on combating migration and reducing excessive government spending received 77% approval each. The need to tighten trade regulations and impose additional import duties on goods from some countries was approved by 65% of Americans.
62% of respondents felt that the speech was unifying, 71% described it as inspiring. At the same time, 46% of Americans viewed the speech as divisive. 76% said they supported the removal from the hall of some congressmen who interrupted Trump during his speech.
The survey polled 1,200 adult residents of the country.
On March 4, Trump addressed the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress with a speech on the situation in the country and the priorities of both domestic and foreign policy. According to the American Presidency Project, his address, which lasted about an hour and 39 minutes, was the longest by a US leader before the legislature. The previous record was set by Bill Clinton, who spoke to lawmakers for 89 minutes in 2000. Trump's previous longest address to lawmakers took place in 2019 and lasted an hour and 22 minutes, including time spent on applause and pauses.
