German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a phone call with US President-elect Donald Trump, during which the two leaders admitted that the conflict in Ukraine has been going on "for too long" and the time has come to find a way to peace, German Government Spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said.

"The sides paid special attention to the issues of security policy in Europe," the spokesman said. The two leaders reportedly agreed that the conflict in Ukraine "has been going on for too long and it is necessary to embark on a path towards a fair, just and sustainable peace as soon as possible.".
