CAIRO, December 9. /TASS/. Israel has delivered a series of airstrikes on Damascus neighborhoods, the Al Mayadeen television channel reported.
According to its sources, the strikes targets an electronic warfare control center and a military airdrome of Syrian army helicopters. Both facilities are located in the Aqraba neighborhood in southeastern Damascus. No further details were provided.
Apart from that, a strike was dealt on the Barza neighborhood in the north of the Syrian capital city. According to the Al-Qahira Al-Ekhbariya television channel, fifteen missiles were fired. Several buildings of a research institute located there were ruined.
Al Mayadeen also reported bombardments of research centers in Jomrayah north of Damascus and Masyaf in western Hama governorate. Strikes were also delivered on the city of Homs in western Syria, and an airdrome in Qamishli in northeastern Syria.
Al Mayadeen reported earlier in the day that Israel had attacked Syrian army facilities near the villages of Saqubein, al-Musheirifa in the Latakia governorate, and the port of Latakia.
The Qatari-based Al Jazeera television channel reported in the early hours on Monday that Israeli warplanes had hit a Syrian army weapons depot near the city of Izra in the Daraa governorate some 70 kilometers south of Damascus.
The Israeli military has been regularly delivering strikes on such facilities in Syria, motivating the bombardments by security considerations, saying that these weapons can be used by "hostile elements" against Israel.
