PRAGUE, November 19. /TASS/. The Czech Republic has provided Ukraine with military aid totaling 7.3 billion crowns (approximately $306 million) since February 24, 2022, according to the CTK news agency, citing the Czech Defense Ministry.
The country has supplied Ukraine with eight aircraft, 62 tanks, 131 infantry fighting vehicles, 26 chemical reconnaissance vehicles, and 16 vehicles equipped for air defense operations, the agency reported. Additionally, in collaboration with the Netherlands and Denmark, the Czech Republic is advancing Prague's initiative to procure artillery shells for Ukraine from third countries, funded by Western nations.
In October, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that Ukraine would receive 500,000 large-caliber shells by the end of the year as part of this initiative. He also emphasized that deliveries would continue into 2025.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 17, Czech President Petr Pavel said that the Czech Republic had found a way to purchase hundreds of thousands of artillery shells for the Ukrainian military from third countries, provided funds were available. Around 20 countries have joined the initiative.
