Israeli army once again shells Gaza residents waiting for aid

The Palestinian enclave press office added that it demands immediately stop the armed confrontation in Gaza and deliver "at least 1,000 truckloads of aid" there to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe

CAIRO, March 5. /TASS/. The Israeli military has again opened fire on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who were waiting for the distribution of humanitarian aid in one of the districts of the enclave's administrative center, the government press service of the Palestinian enclave reported.

"Israeli army troops opened fire at Palestinian civilians as they arrived at the Kuwait Junction on Salah al-Din Road to receive humanitarian aid," the office said on its official Telegram channel. There is no information yet on the number of wounded.

The government press office added that it demands that the international community immediately stop the armed confrontation in Gaza and deliver "at least 1,000 truckloads of aid" there to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

The first such incident took place on February 29 in the Al-Nablusi neighborhood of Gaza City. At least 112 people were killed and 760 others injured. The Palestinian movement Hamas promised to suspend the ceasefire negotiations if the Israeli military attack on those waiting for humanitarian aid is repeated.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023, when militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian movement Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking over 240 hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. In response, Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians before the crisis, and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes have also been reported on the West Bank.
