Turnout for Egypt’s presidential election exceeds 45% — election commission chief

If necessary, the second round of presidential elections will be held outside the country from January 5 to 7, and on Egyptian territory from January 8 to 10

CAIRO, December 11. /TASS/. The voter turnout for the general presidential election in Egypt exceeded 45% on the second day of voting, Executive Director of the National Elections Authority Ahmed Bandari said.

"[A total of] 45% of the voters registered in the base voted in the presidential election," the Al-Youm As-Sabia news portal quoted him as saying.

Polling stations opened at 9:00 a.m. local time (7:00 a.m. GMT) on December 10. They will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for one more day - December 12. About 67 million citizens eligible to vote can take part in the elections. If necessary, the second round of presidential elections will be held outside the country from January 5 to 7, and on Egyptian territory from January 8 to 10.
