OTTAWA, February 24. /TASS/. Canada imposes sanctions against 129 Russian nationals and 63 legal entities, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday.
According to Trudeau, the blacklist includes a deputy prime minister, ministers, presidential administration officials, the military, and businessman linked with the production weapons used in Ukraine.
Canada has imposed sanctions on the wife of Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Svetlana Medvedeva, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova, Russian presidential aide Maxim Oreshkin, the Canadian foreign ministry said on Friday.
According to earlier reports, sanctions were imposed on speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, or upper parliament house, Valentina Matviyenko, chairman of the Federation Council committee on the constitutional legislation Andrey Klishas, chief of the team of military advisers at the Tsar’s Wolves research and technical center Dmitry Rogozin, chairman of the international committee of the Russian State Duma, or lower parliament house, Leonid Slutsky, and former presidential aide Vladislav Surkov.
Canada also has blacklisted President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and member of the Russian State Duma, or lower parliament house, Vladislav Tretyak, the Canadian foreign ministry said.
Along with Tretyak, the blacklist includes State Duma lawmakers Irina Yarovaya, Oleg Leonov, Konstantin Zarulin, Yelena Yampolskaya, and Viktor Zavarzin.
Canada has imposed sanctions on the world’s first woman cosmonaut and a lawmaker of the Russian State Duma, or lower parliament house, Valentina Tereshkova. Sanctions were also imposed on the world’s second woman cosmonaut and State Duma member Svetlana Savitskaya, and actress and State Duma lawmaker Yelena Drapeko.
Canada also imposed sanctions on the main shareholder of Severstal Alexey Mordashov and his family members. The sanction list includes Mordashov, who is the chairman of the Board of Directors of Severstal, his wife Marina and their three children.
Sanctions were also imposed on 50 entities, including the Yunarmiya military-patriotic movement, the Uralvagonzavod concern, the Special Design Bureau CJSC, and the United Machinery Group Holding.
Canada imposes a ban on export of chemicals used for the production of electronics to Russia, Trudeau said.
