US may announce new aid package for Ukraine on February 3 — report

the list of shipped weapons will include GLSDB missiles with the maximum range of 150 km for the first time, the Wall Street Journal reported

NEW YORK, February 1. /TASS/. The US are expected to announce a new package of aid to Kiev authorities on February 3, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the list of shipped weapons will include GLSDB missiles with the maximum range of 150 km for the first time. This missile, which weighs about 113 kg, can be launched by HIMARS systems, the report says.

Previously, Reuters reported that the cost of new aid package for Ukraine will stand at $2.2 billion. A package of weapons worth $400 million will be sent to Kiev directly from the Pentagon’s stock, while the rest of the sum will be allocated within the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which implies contracts to be signed between the Department of Defense and weapon makers instead of provision of available equipment. In particular, the Pentagon plans to purchase GLSDB missiles via the USAI initiative.

According to the Pentagon, since the beginning of the special military operation, the US has provided over $27 billion worth of aid to Ukraine.
