NEW YORK, October 28. /TASS/. The speech delivered by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday will be studied closely by the public in the United States and in Europe, Richard Black, a representative of the Schiller Institute at the United Nations in New York, told TASS.
"An important process is ongoing in the US with more and more experienced retired US military and intelligence professionals speaking out about the escalating war danger represented by the global NATO," Black said. "There is a shift from the absolutely deadly silence against their [the West’s] policy."
"President Putin’s speech will be printed in various non mainstream media and it will be studied closely as it will also in Europe," the expert believes.
Black described the Russian president’s discussions of the increasing nuclear threat as "extremely important". "He denounced the clear and pervasive threats from the Western political and military leaders that a nuclear war from the standpoint of the West is feasible and winnable," the expert said. "President Putin was explicit that Russia has more advanced weapon systems than exit now in the West. And he said we are willing to sit down and negotiate and discuss all of this." According to Black, Putin’s discussions of the ongoing immediate threat of a nuclear exchange are the most important issue, especially for the UN Security Council.
The fact that the Russian leader underscored the threat of nuclear risks was the most important contribution. "It’s clear that the West has continuously rejected the Russian proposals for security dialogue and cooperation. We [the Schiller Institute] agreed with the evaluation that the crisis today emerged because of the blindness of the leadership in the West." Black said today’s crisis was greater than the Caribbean one.
The expert also called "insightful" the Russian president’s words about the "cancel culture" policy being pursued in the West which Putin said eradicated their own potential. As for the United Nations, this is a hard topic, Black said. According to him, "the UN Security Council is an anachronism and the great nations of the Global South <…> must have a permanent representation on the Security Council.".
