MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. /TASS/. NATO’s strategy to be adopted in June may include the mention of a direct threat allegedly coming from Russia’s activities, Bloomberg said on Sunday citing an alliance’s official.
The document, in his words, may also touch upon the topic of China and its ties with Russia. The would-be strategy is expected to feature measures of support for neighboring countries, which, according to NATO analysts, could find themselves vulnerably in the face of coercion and aggression.
According to the agency, the NATO allies will probably look at possible resumption of relations with Russia, if Moscow changes its behavior.
NATO has used such rhetoric more than once when wording its further strategy. Thus, in December 2020 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg unveiled the program NATO 2030: United for a New Era, which lists Russia, terrorism, cyberattacks, technologies, the rise of China, and climate change as key threats.
The alliance’s summit in June 2021 decided to begin to elaborate a new strategic concept on the basis of this program, which is to be endorsed in Madrid in 2022.
