PRETORIA, June 30. /TASS/. The first shipment of Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine was delivered to Mauritius on Wednesday, a Russian embassy staffer told TASS.
"Yes, the vaccine has arrived," he said. "This event has already generated a great response in Mauritius".
The Russian embassy reported via Facebook that 60,000 doses of the jab were transported to the country on June 30. "The Mauritian government ordered 1,250,000 doses from Russia to vaccinate 625,000 people of the island nation," the diplomatic mission noted.
The shipment from Russia was welcomed at Mauritius international airport particularly by Health Minister Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, who particularly expressed gratitude to Russia for the help provided to the people of Mauritius at such a difficult time.
