KAZAN, February 21. /TASS/. Russia has every chance to become a leader in the development of innovative sports that are popular among the youth, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"It seems that we can really become a leader in the development of innovative sports, which are becoming more and more popular among the youth," he said, discussing the 2024 Games of the Future with Tokayev.
Putin pointed to the fact that Kazakhstan will be represented at the Games by a large delegation. "Your guys have come here [to Kazan] and will take compete in 13 sports disciplines. I was surprised to see such a representative delegation from Kazakhstan," the Russian head of state told his Kazakh counterpart.
The inaugural cybersport Games of the Future will be hosted by the Russian city of Kazan between February 21 and March 3, 2024. The Games will feature entirely new sports disciplines combining advanced technology, the digital environment and physical activity.
The competitions are designed to use cutting-edge developments in cybersports, robotics, both augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR), information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to organizers of the 2024 Games of the Future, some 2,000 athletes from over 100 countries are set to compete in 21 innovative sports disciplines.
