Court in Crimea remands in custody two more members of Hizb ut-Tahrir cell

On Wednesday, three members of this cell in Crimea were also imprisoned for two months

SIMFEROPOL, February 6. /TASS/. Two members of a cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir (recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia and banned), who had been recruiting supporters in Crimea, have been remanded in custody for two months, the Crimea and Sevastopol office of the Federal Security Service (FSB) has said.

On Wednesday, three members of this cell in Crimea were also imprisoned for two months.

A court in Simferopol put two more suspects into custody for two months until April 4, the FSB said in a news release.

On Wednesday, the FSB reported the detention in Crimea of five Russian nationals - all members of a local cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. They were spreading among Crimea’s Muslims the ideology of the international terrorist organization based on the doctrine of a so-called world Caliphate and recruited new supporters at underground meetings.

The cell members’ homes were searched and a large amount of propaganda materials banned in Russia, communication equipment and electronic media used in terrorist activities were seized. The FSB’s investigative office in Crimea and Sevastopol launched criminal proceedings.
