Mother of US citizen convicted in Russia plans to contact Trump on her son's case soon

"It was a quick conversation just before the shots rang out, but he [Trump] did tell me that he would remember his name and that he would try to get him out if he was elected," the mother stressed

WASHINGTON, December 28. /TASS/. Malphine, the mother of American Marc Fogel, who was convicted in Russia, stated in a phone conversation with TASS that she expected to reconnect with Donald Trump regarding her son's case after his inauguration.

Malphine Fogel, 95, confirmed that she met with him in her home state of Pennsylvania this summer, prior to Trump's victory in the November US presidential election. This happened just before the assassination attempt on Trump near the city of Butler. "I spoke to President Trump personally and told him about Marc's case, and he said: ‘If I get elected,’ he said, ‘I will try to free him.’ So, after he's inaugurated, I'm hoping to either talk to him on the phone or write to him and remind him of his promise. I think that he would be very willing to help us get Marc released," Malphine Fogel said.

"It was a quick conversation just before the shots rang out, but he [Trump] did tell me that he would remember his name and that he would try to get him out if he was elected," the mother stressed.

Malphine Fogel responded to a question about whether representatives of Trump's entourage had already reached out to her and her family in the negative. It will probably happen after Trump's upcoming inauguration, the source suggested

Withdrawn lawsuit

Malphine Fogel has withdrawn the lawsuit against the US government, which was filed earlier because Marc Fogel's relatives were dissatisfied with the effectiveness of the US administration's efforts on his case. The Fogel family's lawyer, Sasha Phillips, confirmed this to TASS. She explained that Malphine Fogel decided to withdraw the lawsuit after the US State Department designated her son as wrongfully detained.
