Three dead, 21 poisoned in social center in Russia’s Altay Region

It is reported that the organization’s premises were decontaminated and sanitized

BARNAUL, November 29. /TASS/. At least 24 people got poisoned in the Rubikon private social center in the Altay Region, three of them died; an acute intestinal infection has been discovered in two guests and one employee, they are being transported to the city of Barnaul, the regional health ministry told TASS.

"The specialists continue an epidemiological investigation in a private social organization in the Kalmansky district. Acute intestinal infection without clinical manifestations was found in two guests and one employee; all of them will be hospitalized to Barnaul. The organization’s premises were decontaminated and sanitized. The central district hospital staff continues its observation of the guests," the ministry representative said.

On November 28, guests of the Rubikon center started to seek medical aid; three people died. Later, the regional health ministry said that 18 people were hospitalized. On November 29, three more patients were reported. According to the center’s director Alik Gelfenbayn, the incident is believed to be cause by a rotaviral infection.

A criminal case was initiated over charges of provision of services that do not meet health safety requirements that caused death of two or more people.
