MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 plane brought to Moscow another group of Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip, the ministry’s spokesman Roman Okhotenko told journalists on Friday.
"The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Il-76 plane has just landed at the Domodedovo Airport bringing 120 Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip," he said. "During the flight they were accompanied by doctors and counselors of the Russian Emergencies Ministry."
Okhotenko said there were no wounded people registered among the evacuated Russian nationals.
"There are no wounded, fortunately, and all the people are in reasonably good health," he stated.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s spokesman also said that up to 900 Russian nationals submitted requests to cross the Rafah checkpoint.
"As of today, we have 887 registered requests to cross the Rafah checkpoint," Okholenko said.
Twenty eight Russians are waiting in Cairo to be evacuated, while 12 more people, who crossed the Rafah checkpoint on Thursday, are on their way to the representatives of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. In all, 288 people have already returned to Russia, while a total of 328 people left the Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, Okholenko reported that Up to 100 Russian nationals evacuated from the Gaza Strip remain in temporary accommodation centers in the Moscow Region.
"As of today, 97 people, including 39 children, remain in the temporary accommodation centers," he said.
The evacuation of Russian citizens trapped in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone in the Gaza Strip has been arranged by Russia’s Emergencies Ministry and diplomats. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that more than 1,000 people have applied for evacuation from the Gaza Strip, among them there are Russian citizens and members of the Russian diaspora.
The first Il-76 special flight of the Russian Emergencies Ministry with 70 Russian nationals landed in Moscow on November 13, the second flight with 98 evacuated people landed at the Domodedovo Airport on November 15.
