Over 240 students arrive in Hainan’s Innovation Zone for research and production projects

To accommodate the students, the authorities have created a campus with a capacity to house about 4,400 people

HAIKOU /China/, November 4. /TASS/. More than 240 students from different districts of China came to Yazhouwan Innovation Development Zone in Sanya on Hainan Island to study and promote research and production projects. This was reported by the Sanya Daily newspaper.

According to the newspaper, this is the first wave of young specialists who will accumulate valuable practical experience while studying. It is assumed that they will help lay a stronger foundation for the formation of a powerful innovation cluster on the island.

To accommodate the students, the authorities created a campus for about 4.4 thousand people. About 40% of its territory, which is a total of 13 thousand square meters, is occupied by green spaces. These are trees, bushes and flowerbeds along the residential buildings and specially equipped flowerbeds on the roofs.

"We have representatives from different universities here. <...> I hope that their research activities will benefit Hainan and allow the development objectives of our innovation zone to be realized," said Zhou Yongliang of the Yazhouwang Science City Affairs Office, who oversees inter-university cooperation. He said one of the key goals is to form a team whose members will be able to positively influence the process of creating innovations through communication and collaboration.

"Yazhouwan is located on the coast of the South China Sea and is one of 11 key innovative development projects of Hainan Free Trade Port. The area allocated for science-intensive enterprises and other infrastructure facilities exceeds 26 square kilometers. One of China's leading breeding bases and a deep-sea research center are located in the science city.
