MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Even before the last midterm elections, the US Congress was openly sabotaging all initiatives to normalize bilateral relations with Russia, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters.
Commenting on the results of the US midterm elections, she noted: "As for the potential impact on the prospects for bilateral relations, on the one hand, of course, we must formally wait for Congress to be fully formed and composed, as well as for the relevant laws pertaining to Russia to be established. But it is important to remember: in recent years, we have observed Congress openly sabotaging ideas and initiatives aimed at achieving even a relative normalization of bilateral ties due to a stable anti-Russian consensus."
"This is the reality. Therefore, of course, we will continue to monitor these developments, but we must not neglect our analysis of current events," the diplomat emphasized.
