MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters the Kremlin held no expectations for a visit to Kiev by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz even as Moscow is monitoring news about it.
"I would not say we have any expectations for this visit. Of course, we are watching all contacts," the Kremlin spokesman said, responding to a relevant question. "We are closely monitoring all news coming from Kiev regarding this," he assured reporters.
Earlier on Monday, Scholz arrived in the Ukrainian capital for an unannounced visit, his first in two and a half years. The German head of government will meet with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky. The German chancellor announced on X that he would tell Zelensky about Berlin's plans to send weapons worth 650 million euros ($683 million) to Ukraine later this month.
