ASTANA, November 7. /TASS/. Russia will not create obstacles if US President-elect Donald Trump’s administration decides to appoint a new ambassador to Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following his working visit to Kazakhstan.
"I assume that the US Republican administration will be interested in appointing a new ambassador. We will place no obstacles in their way," he said.
The US embassy in Moscow is currently headed by Lynne Tracy.
Voting in the US presidential election ended early on November 6, Moscow time. While official results have yet to be announced, Fox News has already projected that Trump is leading the election with 277 Electoral College votes, out of the 270 needed to win. Trump himself has already declared himself the 47th President of the United States. US House Speaker Mike Johnson has congratulated ‘President-elect’ Trump, as have foreign leaders — among them, the heads of the Brussels-based European Union institutions, as well as the NATO Secretary General.
