Russian diplomat calls on Tokyo to refrain from steps leading to degradation of relations

MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko met on Monday of Japanese Ambassador Toyohisa Kozuki to discuss current issues of bilateral relations and called on Tokyo to take a pragmatic position and refrain from anti-Russian steps leading to the further degradation of bilateral relations.

"The Russian side drew attention of the Japanese side to the series of unfriendly steps taken recently by the Fumio Kishida administration against Russia, including another package of sanctions announced on January 27. We strongly called on Tokyo to take a pragmatic position and refrain from anti-Russian measures leading to the further degradation of bilateral relations," the Russian foreign ministry said.

On January 27, the Japanese government imposed a new package of anti-Russian sanctions over the situation in Ukraine. In particular, it banned the export of radioactive materials, vaccines and medical items, as well as robots.
