KAHRAMANMARAS /Turkey/, February 7. /TASS/. It is planned that Russian rescuers will work in the earthquake-hit areas in Turkey for ten days and may stay for even longer if necessary, Igor Akmayev, deputy chief of the Russian emergencies ministry’s Tsentrospas rescue service, said on Tuesday.
"This base camp will be our life for ten days," he told reporters, adding that if necessary, the Russian rescuers’ mission in Turkey may be extended.
The Russian rescuers set up a base camp in the Kahramanmaras province, the most earthquake-affected area. "It is absolutely self-sufficient, with nothing else like it in the world, as far as I know," Akmayev said, adding that rescue crews will be working in three eight-hour shifts round-the-clock.
An airmobile hospital, in his words, will be organized on the territory of a local hospital.
