MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Inflation in Russia stood at 0.07% for the period from May 5 to May 12, 2026, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). A week earlier, from April 28 to May 4, the country recorded a 0.02% deflation.
Since the beginning of May, consumer prices in the Russian Federation have edged up by 0.06%, and by 3.17% since the beginning of the year. In annual terms, Russia's inflation rate stood at 5.55% as of May 12, 2026 (calculated using average daily data for the current and previous years for corresponding dates).
According to statistical data, prices during the reporting period increased for lamb (+1.8%), frozen fish (+0.5%), canned fruit and berries for baby food, granulated sugar (+0.4%), and vermicelli (+0.3%). Prices also rose for beef, ultra-pasteurized milk, rye bread, buckwheat, millet, table salt, and black tea (+0.2%), as well as chicken, semi-smoked and cooked-smoked sausages, canned meat, dry milk formulas for baby food, kefir, sunflower oil, wheat flour, and meals in canteens, cafes, and snack bars (excluding corporate cafeterias) (+0.1%).
Fruit and vegetable prices fell by an average of 3.3%, driven by declines in cucumbers (-11.7%), tomatoes (-10.7%), bananas (-2%), potatoes (-0.3%), and apples (-0.1%). Meanwhile, prices increased for white cabbage (+3.2%), onions (+1.4%), beetroots (+1.3%), and carrots (+0.7%).
Prices decreased for chicken eggs (-1.4%), hard, semi-hard, and soft cheeses (-0.3%), butter and cottage cheese (-0.2%), as well as sausages, frankfurters, pasteurized milk, canned vegetable baby food, rice, biscuits, and vodka (-0.1%).
Prices for gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 0.1%.
