Russia to cut electricity supplies to China by 2 bln kWh to 0.9 bln kWh in 2024

The decrease in supplies to China is due to restrictions in the Far Eastern energy system

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The situation with electricity supplies from Russia to China has not improved, Inter RAO Executive Board member Alexandra Panina told reporters, adding that this year’s exports might total 0.9 bln kWh compared with 3.1 bln kWh in the previous year.

"Last year we supplied around 3.1 bln kWh to China whereas now we deliver around 0.9 bln kWh. The decline on China exceeds 2 bln [kWh]. The situation has not changed, remaining rather stringent in the winter as the supply is literally minimum and it may shrink to nullity any moment," she said.

The decrease in supplies to China is due to restrictions in the Far Eastern energy system.
