HAIKOU /China/, January 17. /The Mengxiang cruise liner operated by a Hong Kong company has made its maiden voyage from the Chinese city of Sanya (southern Hainan Province) to the Vietnamese city of Hue. According to the Sanya Daily newspaper, a new tourist cruise route was launched.

The ship docked at Sanya International Cruise Port on January 14 to pick up passengers. The liner will make a total of 15 voyages until early March. The tours are for three, four, five and six days, depending on the final destination of the tour. Sanya will offer cruises to Hue, Nha Trang and Da Nang in Vietnam. In addition, there will be separate tours with departures from Phoenix Island port in the Sanya area. Ticket prices vary by package, ranging from 19,900 yuan ($267) to 16,800 yuan ($2,300) per person.

"I am looking forward to this trip and the opportunity to experience this international cruise ship with my family. Customs clearance here is very fast. I hope Sanya will open more cruise lines and launch more attractive tourism products in the future," the publication quoted one of the passengers of the inaugural voyage as saying.

This ship has the overall tonnage of 77,400 tons. It has 15 decks and more than 1 thousand rooms, which can accommodate more than 2.2 thousand passengers. It is currently the largest cruise ship assigned to Hainan port.

Liu Bo, General Manager of Chengcheng Cruise, pointed out that the launch of all these new routes will enhance the tourism potential of Hainan Province and provide travelers from all over the world with additional leisure opportunities. In his opinion, the establishment of cooperation between the tourism, port and logistics industries will help make Sanya a well-known destination for international cruise tours.

According to official data from local customs, since Sanya's international cruise tours resumed on September 25, 2023, the city's port has welcomed a total of 24 cruise ships, with passenger traffic totaling 72,000 people. Thanks to the optimization of the documentation system, the capacity at customs for departing passengers has also increased from 832 to 1,600 people per hour, the publication said.
