Russia’s output of mineral fertilizers down 11% to 23.5 mln tons in 2022

At the same time, the production of potash fertilizers in December decreased by 34% to 0.6 mln metric tons

MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. The output of mineral fertilizers in Russia in 2022 decreased by 11.3% compared to 2021 and reached 23.5 mln tons, while the output of potash fertilizers fell by 32% to 7.3 mln metric tons, the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Wednesday.

In December, fertilizer production decreased by 9.9% year-on-year to 2.1 mln metric tons.

At the same time, the production of potash fertilizers in December decreased by 34% to 0.6 mln metric tons. The output of phosphate fertilizers increased by 9.6% to 0.4 mln metric tons, in 2022 it fell by 1.1% to 4.4 mln metric tons.

In December, the production of nitrogen fertilizers increased by 5.5% to 1.1 mln metric tons, while in 2022 the figure rose by 3.5% to 11.8 mln metric tons. Ammonia production decreased by 14.4% to 17 mln metric tons.

Earlier, the Russian Fertilizers Producers Association predicted that the output of all types of mineral fertilizers in Russia by the end of 2022 would decrease by 8% to 50.3 mln metric tons in physical weight primarily due to potash fertilizers. Exports of mineral fertilizers should fall by 15% to 31.6 mln metric tons.
