Trump, Petro to meet at White House on February 3 at 4 p.m. GMT

The meeting will be held in a format closed to journalists

WASHINGTON, February 3. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump will meet with Colombian leader Gustavo Petro at the White House on Tuesday, February 3, at 4 p.m. GMT, according to Trump's working schedule.

The document circulated the White House press service has Trump receiving Petro in the Oval Office for a meeting closed to journalists.

Earlier, speaking about Petro, Trump noted: "He's been very nice over the last month or two. He was certainly critical before that, but somehow after the Venezuelan raid, he became very nice. He changed his attitude very much." "We're going to be talking about drugs, because tremendous amounts of drugs come out of his country," the US leader added, responding to journalists' questions at the White House. "And I look forward to seeing him, we're going to have a good meeting."

Following the US military operation in Venezuela on January 3, Trump said that his warning to Petro was still in force. Earlier, the US leader accused the Colombian president of harboring drug production and warned that the United States may use force against Colombia if its authorities don’t do enough to combat drug smuggling.

Petro, in turn, said that Trump should better award him medals for his vigorous efforts to curb cocaine exports to the United States rather than threaten him. The US leader, in his words, has lapsed into "senile dementia."
