DUBAI, April 3. /TASS/. The total number of Palestinians, killed as a result of Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours has reached 77, the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television reported citing the Palestinian enclave’s health ministry.
The revised death toll includes 22 people, who were killed in the strike of the clinic of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the northern city of Jabaliya, offering shelter to displaced persons.
Earlier reports said 24 people were killed and 55 wounded. The aggregate death toll since the hostilities resumed on March 18 currently stands at 1,066, with another 2,597 wounded. The total Gaza death toll since October 2023 is estimated at 50,423 people, with 114,638 wounded.
On March 18, the Israeli army resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip, launching massive attacks on the Palestinian enclave and violating a ceasefire reached in January. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained that the radical Palestinian movement Hamas refused to agree to the proposals put forward at the talks by mediators and US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, saying that the goal of the operation in the enclave was the release of all hostages. The radicals blamed Israel and the US for the resumption of hostilities.
