AFP reports rows of wounded at hospital in Myanmar’s capital in wake of massive quake

A doctor at the hospital shared that he hadn’t "seen anything like this before" and that hospital staff are "trying to handle the situation"

BANGKOK, March 28. /TASS/. Lines of those wounded in a powerful earthquake lay at Myanmar’s main hospital in Naypyidaw, AFP reported.

"Hundreds of injured people are arriving, but the emergency building here also collapsed," a hospital official told the news agency. A doctor at the hospital shared that he hadn’t "seen anything like this before" and that hospital staff are "trying to handle the situation."

According to AFP, Myanmar's Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing visited the hospital.

Central Myanmar was hit by a massive quake of 7.7 to 8.2 magnitude, followed by a strong 6.4-magnitude aftershock. Thailand, too, was affected, and tremors were felt in China and Vietnam. Several people have been killed in the Myanmar quake, and residential buildings and infrastructure in the Southeast Asian nation were damaged.

In Bangkok, people are being evacuated from high-rise buildings. According to the latest updates, at least three people have been killed in the Thai capital, with more than 80 others missing.
