NEW YORK, March 27. /TASS/. Washington and Kiev may sign an agreement on economic cooperation, which would cover mineral resources, next week, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said.
"We have passed along a completed document for the economic partnership. It is currently being reviewed by Ukrainians, and we hope to go to full discussions and perhaps even get signatures next week," he told Fox News, when asked if a minerals deal was still in the works with Ukraine.
"The original document was a four page agreement. We took advantage of the gap in time to move to a completed agreement," Bessent added.
The signing of the minerals deal was postponed following the February 28 verbal spat between Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. At a later meeting in the Saudi city of Jeddah, the parties decided to make an agreement on the development of Ukraine's critical mineral resources in order to strengthen the country’s economy.
