Zelensky completely disheartened after conversation with Trump — expert

According to Mikhail Pavliv, this most likely indicates that the new administration in Washington, along with the demand for elections, "is prepared to declare the Verkhovna Rada as the only legitimate authority in the country"

MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky is in an utterly demoralized state after his conversation with US President Donald Trump, political analyst Mikhail Pavliv, who previously worked in Ukraine, told TASS.

"There is very unexpected information coming from Kiev. Non-public, of course. After Trump's conversation with Zelensky, the latter, and with him and his entire entourage, are in an utterly demoralized state," he said.

According to the expert, this most likely indicates that the new administration in Washington, along with the demand for elections, "is prepared to declare the Verkhovna Rada as the only legitimate authority in the country, and the speaker of parliament as the only possible signatory from Ukraine at the moment." "Zelensky, on the other hand, can be such only after the elections and in the event of his victory. In what Trump also publicly doubted, saying that Zelensky's ratings are not high," Pavliv added.

He specified that following this information and, in fact, having received an approval through the channels of communication with Washington, bypassing the presidential office, "the major players of Ukrainian politics have already entered the covert battle for the post of the head of the Verkhovna Rada." "Well, [Ruslan] Stefanchuk's days in this post may well be numbered," the expert said.·

Phone conversations

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump had a call. The leaders of Russia and the United States talked about the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, bilateral relations, and a range of other issues. They also agreed to maintain communication and arrange a face-to-face meeting.

According to the Kremlin, Trump expressed support for an early halt to hostilities and a peaceful resolution. Putin, for his part, mentioned the need to address the underlying causes of the conflict and agreed with Trump that a long-term resolution could be achieved through peaceful negotiations, the Russian leader's press service said. The US leader wrote on the Truth Social network that Moscow and Washington would immediately begin negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

Later, Trump held a telephone conversation with Zelensky.
