TEL AVIV, December 15. /TASS/. Israel delivered an airstrike on Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants’ command center in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
"Earlier today (Sunday), with the direction of IDF and ISA (Israeli Security Agency - TASS) intelligence, the IAF (Israeli Air Force - TASS) conducted a precise strike on Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists who were operating in a command and control center embedded in the offices of the ‘Civil Defense’ organization in Nuseirat," it said. "The command and control center was used by the terrorists to plan and carry out an imminent terror attack against IDF troops."
"Among the terrorists eliminated in the strike was the Islamic Jihad terrorist Ahmed Bakr al-Lawh, who previously served as a Platoon commander in the Islamic Jihad's Central Camps Brigade," it added.
The Al Jazeera television channel reported earlier in the day that its cameraman had died in after Israel’s airstrike on the Gaza Strip, when he was working in the Nuseirat camp. According to the TV channel, five civil defense service employees were also killed in the attack.
Meanwhile, the IFD said that before the air raid "numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, precise aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence."
"The terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate international law, exploiting civilian infrastructure and the Gazan population as human shields for terrorist activity," it added.
