Russian forces quickly break through Ukraine's weakened positions in Donbass — newspaper

The New York Times also said that the test of Russia's newest Oreshnik hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile has increased pressure on Kiev and its allies

NEW YORK, December 13. /TASS/. Russian servicemen are rapidly advancing on the front line in Donbass, breaking through Ukraine's weakened positions, The New York Times reported.

The newspaper recalled that the Russian forces have approached Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name - Pokrovsk), and noted that the pace of Russia's advance has become the fastest since 2022. This is due to "overwhelming manpower advantage" and the weakening of Ukrainian positions due to manpower shortages.

The New York Times also said that the test of Russia's newest Oreshnik hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile has increased pressure on Kiev and its allies.

Earlier, top Ukrainian military commander Alexander Syrsky said that the fighting near Krasnoarmeysk was "extremely fierce."

Krasnoarmeysk is a key logistical hub for the Ukrainian group in the Donetsk People's Republic. On December 7, security forces told TASS that the Russian military had taken fire control of the Krasnoarmeysk-Dnepr highway, which is key to supplying the Ukrainian group in Krasnoarmeysk.
