WASHINGTON, December 8. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the situation in Syria, White House National Security Council Spokesman Sean Savett said.

"President Biden and his team are closely monitoring the extraordinary events in Syria and staying in constant touch with regional partners," he wrote on his X social media page.

The White House, the State Department and the Pentagon have not yet responded to a TASS request for comment on the situation in Syria.

Earlier, Al Jazeera reported that militants had entered Damascus, while Al Hadath TV claimed that the Syrian capital had fallen under the control of militant groups.
