Myanmar’s deputy PM sees US move to authorize missile strikes inside Russia as mistake

"No country should make any mistake, which will escalate instability in any part of the world," Than Swe stressed

NAYPYIDAW /Myanmar/, December 3. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden’s decision to authorize the use of US weapons for strikes inside Russia is a mistake that poses a threat to the entire world, Myanmar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Than Swe said in an exclusive interview with TASS.

"It’s very dangerous, and not only for Russia, Ukraine and America, but for all over the world, including Europe. It’s a very silly mistake, I think," he pointed out, adding: "No country should make any mistake, which will escalate instability in any part of the world."

Myanmar’s deputy prime minister also commented on a New York Times report where some unnamed Western officials suggested that Washington could also hand nuclear weapons over to Kiev. "This would be the second silly mistake. No normal people would support this idea. Everyone is against a nuclear war because it can kill millions and millions of people," Than Swe noted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that US-and UK-made missiles had targeted military facilities in the Kursk and Bryansk regions following a move by the US and its NATO allies to authorize the use of their long-range weapons for strikes against Russia. According to Putin, in retaliation for the attacks, Russia for the first time used its newest Oreshnik non-nuclear hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missiles against Ukraine’s Yuzhmash defense industry facility in the city of Dnepr (formerly Dnepropetrovsk). The Russian leader emphasized that the West could face dire consequences if its provocative policy further escalated the conflict.
