DUBAI, November 13. /TASS/. At least 64 attacks on schools were reported in the Gaza Strip last month, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory said in a report.
"According to the latest data from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and its partners, a total of 64 attacks against schools, which mostly serve as Internally Displaced People shelters, were documented in October, including 25 in northern Gaza, with an estimated 128 people killed as a result, many of them children," the report reads.
Tensions intensified again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023, when militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian movement Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing residents of border settlements and taking hostages. In response, Israel initiated a military operation in the Palestinian enclave to dismantle Hamas' military and political structures and free all hostages.
