Death toll from Japan’s earthquakes up to 213 people

The Ishikawa prefecture was hit the hardest by the earthquakes, with at least 1,370 houses fully or partially ruined and more than 300 buildings destroyed in fire

TOKYO, January 11. /TASS/. The death toll from a series of strong earthquakes that struck Japan's Noto peninsula, has reached 213, the Ishikawa prefecture’s authorities reported.

At least 52 people are still listed as missing, with emergencies services being unable to contact them to confirm their whereabouts. At last count, the number of people who received injuries, equals 567.

The Ishikawa prefecture was hit the hardest by the earthquakes, with at least 1,370 houses fully or partially ruined and more than 300 buildings destroyed in fire.

More than 1,200 earthquakes have occurred in Japan since January 1. The strongest earthquake shock had magnitude of 7.6, becoming the most powerful in this part of the country since 1885, according to Japanese seismologists.
