TASS, March 13. Chinese President Xi Jinping intends to visit Moscow as early as next week, Reuters reported on Monday, citing sources.
According to its information, the Chinese leader expects to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. No details were given.
The Wall Street Journal reported in February that the Chinese president's trip to Moscow could take place in April or May.
Last December, Putin, in talks with Xi Jinping via video conference call, invited him to come to Moscow in the spring of 2023. In February, the Russian president received Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), member of the CCP Politburo Wang Yi in the Kremlin. Putin then expressed the hope that this visit would give an additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations between Moscow and Beijing.
The previous face-to-face meeting between the Russian leader and his Chinese counterpart took place in September 2022 in Samarkand during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
