BELGRADE, April 18. /TASS/. Serbia has historically played an important role, uniting East and West, Serbian Novak Djokovic said on Monday at a press conference before the opening of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament in Belgrade.
"We have a lot to offer, many foreigners coming to Serbia are charmed by the reception and hospitality of the Serbian people. Serbia is historically very important as a bridge between East and West. Many nations and races have historically intermingled here, so we are open to the world. I am very happy that a lot of people come to our tournament in the last years," Djokovic said.
The tournament, which starts on Monday in the Serbian capital, will feature Russians Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Aslan Karatsev and Roman Safiullin.
The ATP tournament takes place at the Novak Tennis Center (tennis center of World No. 1 Novak Djokovic) in Belgrade from April 18 to 24. Admission for spectators in the stands is unlimited, and on the first day of qualification admission was free.
