MOSCOW, June 19. /TASS/. The body of Adlan Varayev, the first vice president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, who has been missing since early May, has been found in a Chechen village, Buvaisar Saitiyev, a three-time Olympic champion, told TASS on Sunday.
Varayev went missing on May 3 after he fell down in a river.
"Varayev’s body was found today. He has identified by relatives," Saitiyev said. "The search has not stopped since the day when it happened. Many people have been involved in the search, in difficult weather conditions, in a land-slide-prone area. Many have been hoping to find him alive."
Varayev, 54, was the first ethnic Chechen to win an Olympic medal. He was silver medalist in freestyle wrestling at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. He was the world champion in 1987 and silver medalist of the world tournament in 1986.
