Russia becomes world cinema magnet, to host over 100 international film festivals in 2024

According to the relevant Culture Ministry order, Moscow will play host to the "WE" International Youth Film Festival on November 18-24; the 9th International Film Festival of the BRICS Countries on April 19-23; and the "Big Cartoon Festival" XVIII International Animation Festival on October 25-November 5

MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. The Russian Culture Ministry has approved the official roster of international film festivals that Russia will host in 2024, which lists 110 separate cinematic events, the ministry reported in a press release.

"The Russian Ministry of Culture has approved the list of international film festivals to be held in Russia in 2024. The list of international film festivals [to be] held in Russia includes 110 cinematic events," the ministry’s statement reads.

According to the relevant Culture Ministry order, Moscow will play host to the "WE" International Youth Film Festival on November 18-24; the 9th International Film Festival of the BRICS Countries on April 19-23; and the "Big Cartoon Festival" XVIII International Animation Festival on October 25-November 5. Other Russian cities will also share in the cinematic action with Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut jointly hosting the "Spirit of Fire" XXII International Festival of Cinematographic Debuts on March 21-26, while St. Petersburg will be the venue for the "PeterKiT" XXIV International Student Film Festival in two stages on October 17-21 (stage one) and November 22-26 (stage two). Also scheduled are the AURA International Film Festival on May 12-18 in Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and St. Petersburg; the XVI Northern Character International Film Festival on November 11-17 in Murmansk; the Khabarovsk International Film Festival on June 20-23 in Khabarovsk; and the Unknown Film Festival on June 21-23 in Yekaterinburg.

Films may be screened at any listed film festival without distribution certificates provided that the screening complies with the provisions of Article 5.1 of the Russian Federal Law "On State Support for Cinematography in the Russian Federation."
