MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. The level of public trust in President Vladimir Putin among Russians has grown by 0.3 percentage points (p.p.) over the past week to reach 80%, according to a public opinion poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) on December 18-24.
"When asked about trust in Putin, 80% of respondents answered positively (a 0.3 p.p. increase in the past week), while the Russian president’s approval rating remained unchanged at 77.1%," the polling organization said.
The Russian government’s job approval rating stood at 53.7% (a 0.7 p.p. rise), while 54.5% of Russians approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s job performance (a 0.5 p.p. increase). A total of 62.9% of respondents said they had trust in Mishustin (a 0.9 p.p. increase).
Survey respondents also expressed their attitudes toward the heads of party factions in the State Duma, or lower house of Russia’s parliament. Thus, 32.6% said they had trust in long-time Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) head Gennady Zyuganov (a 0.7 p.p. increase), while other political figures garnered lower trust ratings: A Just Russia-For Truth party leader Sergey Mironov (29.2%; 0.8 p.p. increase); Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) head Leonid Slutsky (16.1%; 1.8 p.p. decline); and New People party chairman Alexey Nechayev (8.9%; 2.1 p.p. increase).
As for political parties, the level of support for the ruling United Russia party stood at 42.2% (a 0.2 p.p. increase); 8.8% for the KPRF (a 1 p.p. decline); 8.6% for the LDPR (a 0.3 p.p. increase); 4.4% for A Just Russia-For Truth (unchanged); and 4.5% for New People (a 0.2 p.p. decline).
