Plane with 117 Russians evacuated from Gaza takes off for Moscow

On the way they are accompanied by doctors and psychologists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. A Russian emergencies ministry’s plane with 117 Russian nationals who were evacuated from the Gaza Strip on Saturday has taken off from Cairo for Moscow, the emergencies ministry said.

"The Russian emergencies ministry’s plane has taken off from Cairo for Moscow. The Il-76 plane is carrying 117 compatriots to Russia. They are accompanied by the ministry’s medics and psychologists," it said.

Since November 12, more than 550 Russians, including 230 children, have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip. A total of 408 of them have already been taken to Moscow by the emergency ministry’s four flights.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that the lists of those willing to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip have more than 1,000 names. Increasingly more Russians are seeking to evacuate from the enclave, the Russian emergencies ministry said and pledged to take every one of them to the homeland.
