MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The World Health Organization (WHO) did not refuse to send an inspection team to Russia within the framework of approving the Sputnik V vaccine, Melita Vujnovic, WHO representative in Russia, said in an interview with TASS.
"Actually, I cannot reply to this because I did not receive information on the current stage of contacts between the [Russian] Direct Investment Fund and Geneva. Yet the WHO did not decline. All new vaccines, all new applications - everything is underway," she said, replying to a question as to whether a visit by WHO experts to Russia should be expected.
"Of course, a country visit always depends on issues of security, logistics, all other elements, yet it seems to me that if these talks were underway, if everything was obtained, then, of course, this inspection should be expected," the WHO representative stressed.
In June, Vujnovic told TASS that an inspection team to Russia within the framework of the procedure for approving the Sputnik V vaccine may take place in the next few months.
The Sputnik V jab registered in Russia on August 11, 2020, became the first officially recognized vaccine against coronavirus worldwide. To date, it has been certified in 71 countries.
