Over 2.8 tonnes of food products delivered as humanitarian aid to Syria’s Aleppo

As many as 650 food baskets were distributed among civilians

MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. More than 2.8 tonnes of food products were delivered as humanitarian assistance to Syria’s Aleppo over the past day, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties Alexei Tsygankov said on Sunday.

"During the past day, officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties conducted a humanitarian operation in the settlement of Avenat al-Qabira in the Aleppo governorate, As many as 650 food baskets with an overall weight of more than 2.8 tonnes were distributed among civilians," he said. "Targeted assistance was delivered to the families of killed Syrian servicemen in Aleppo’s Shaiban Pasha, Sheikh Fars, al-Qadisiya, and Sheikh Hoder neighborhoods."

The Russian reconciliation center has conducted as many as 1,892 humanitarian operation since the beginning of the settlement process. A total of 2,896.56 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes have been delivered.

According to Tsygankov, the Russian military continue to report sporadic ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Throughout the day, militants shelled positions of government troops in the Latakia and Hama governorates, and position of the battalion safeguarding Aleppo’s research center.

A total of 75,033 Syrians have returned to Eastern Ghouta from camps for refugees and internally displaced persons. In the past day alone, seventy-nine people returned to their homes.

Seven Syrians, including three children, received medical assistance from Russian military doctors during the day.

Russian reconciliation center

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
