MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. The series of accident-free Russian carrier rocket launches has reached a record 134 liftoffs by the end of this year, Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos reported on Saturday.
"Seventeen launches of Russian carrier rockets took place in 2024… All the launches were successful and 99 space vehicles were delivered into near-Earth orbits. Therefore, the record series of accident-free launches of Russian carrier rockets has been extended to 134 liftoffs by the end of 2024 since 2018," Roscosmos said in a statement.
Roscosmos has also set another record this year: on November 5, a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket that blasted off from the Vostochny cosmodrome in Russia’s Far East delivered as many as 51 Russian satellites into orbit, it said.
"The simultaneous launch of such a number of Russian satellites has become a new record in the history of domestic cosmonautics," it added.
In addition, Roscosmos carried out two record-breaking launches for the Soviet and Russian cosmonautics in 2024: the 1,000th liftoff of the R-7 rocket from the Plesetsk spaceport on December 4 and the 2,000th blastoff of the R-7 family launch vehicle on December 25.
