Caucasus republic head resigns, Putin names successor

Russia's president proposed that Yury Kokov should be appointed as the republic's temporary head

MOSCOW, December 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov, has tendered his resignation from the post at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin proposed that Yury Kokov should be appointed as the republic's temporary head, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, adding that a decree had been signed announcing the change.
