Russia not interested in confrontation with US — ambassador

Anatoly Antonov told reporters that his "latest contacts with Department of State colleagues was limited solely to protests and negative signals to the Russian Federation"

WASHINGTON, March 15. /TASS/. Russia is not seeking confrontation with the United States and is trying to engage in pragmatic cooperation with Washington, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said.

After consultations at the US Department of State, where the diplomat was invited over Tuesday's incident with the MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the United States above the Black Sea, Antonov told reporters that his "latest contacts with Department of State colleagues was limited solely to protests and negative signals to the Russian Federation."

"I’ve mentioned that, and I said that the Russian side is not interested in confrontation. The Russian side is interested in a pragmatic relationship with the United States, for the benefit of the people of Russia and the United States," Antonov added.
